چکیده

INTRODUCTION. Patients with posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) deficient sometimes experience giving way during stair descending, although they do not usually have disability in performing most of activities of daily living (ADL). This fact suggests that the patients should have adaptation mechanism to lack of posterior stability during the activity. However the mechanics of PCL deficient knee during ADL is not well understood. The purpose of this study was to analyze knee mechanics of PCL deficient knees during stair descending. Knee kinematics and kinetics of the patients with the symptom were compared to those of the patients without the symptom and healthy knees.

Gait modification strategies in trunk over right stance phase in patients with right anterior cruciate ligament deficiency.

This study aimed to investigate the gait modification strategies of trunk over right stance phase in patients with right anterior cruciate ligament deficiency (ACL-D). Thirty-six patients with right chronic ACL-D were recruited, as well as 36 controls. A 3D optical video motion capture system was used during gait and stair ambulation. Kinematic variables of the trunk and kinematic and kinetic v...

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Surgery

Little is known about knee function after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in the vital activities of walking and stair use. Gait analysis was done on patients 6 months (n 8) and 12 months (n 9) after reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament. Paired t tests were used to compare the injured and uninjured knees. During level walking, the patients placed external flexion torques o...

The influence of total knee-replacement design on walking and stair-climbing.

The relationship between gait and prosthetic design was studied during level walking and stair-climbing for twenty-six asymptomatic patients after total knee replacement. An age-matched group of fourteen control subjects was also studied. Five designs of total knee replacement Geomedic, Gunston, total condylar, duopatellar, and Cloutier were used. Differences in gait could be identified on the ...

Comparison of clinical and dynamic knee function in patients with anterior cruciate ligament deficiency.

BACKGROUND Whether passive measures of isokinetic muscle strength deficits and knee laxity are related to the dynamic function of the anterior cruciate ligament-deficient knee remains unclear. HYPOTHESES Arthrometer measurements are not predictive of peak external knee flexion moment (net quadriceps muscle moment), isokinetic quadriceps muscle strength correlates with peak external knee flexi...

Anteroposterior Knee Stability During Stair Descent.

This study examined the influence of tibio-femoral conformity on anteroposterior (AP) knee stability during stair descent, particularly with a dished cruciate sacrificing (CS) design. A joint simulator simulated stair descent of cadaveric knees. Tibio-femoral displacement was measured. Knees were tested in intact, ACL-deficient, and TKA with cruciate-retaining (CR), CS and posterior-stabilizing...
